This is because the tachometer signal from the ECU is a 5V square wave and some Classic Instruments tachometers are designed to work on 8V and higher square wave signals. To get the 5V ECU signal to work, a special pull-up resistor that installs between the +12V gauge power and the signal terminal in order to boost the signal strength to work with the tachometer. 24-957.......................................................................................................$15.95ea

The ZST speedometer is made to read many signals, some of which are low voltage at slow speeds. The speedometer needs to be very sensitive to read the low voltage signals and is therefore susceptible to interference that may be on the signal wire. Signals from computers are known to have interference and may cause the speedometer to "act" like a tachometer when not moving. This signal filter will eliminate interference on the signal wire and still allow the actual speed signal to pass through.
